A Journey to Balance
Join us as we return to Kemet, timed to the spring equinox, when day and night fall into balance. In March, the fields along the Nile are green and the harvest is near: renewal made visible in the land itself.
Ten days moving through the sites, temples, and living traditions that carry this heritage forward — culminating on March 20th, the equinox itself, when Ma'at is not a concept we discuss but a balance we stand inside.
Why the Spring Equinox?
Twice a year, the sun rises due east and day and night are nearly equal. For a civilization organized around the sun and the Nile, that balance carried real meaning.
𓇼 A land built around the sun
The Great Pyramid is aligned to the cardinal directions to within about one-fifteenth of a degree, and the Sphinx faces due east, so on the equinox the sun rises directly in front of it. Egyptologists still debate how the builders achieved such precision; one proposed method uses the sun's shadow at the equinox.
𓇼 A year shaped by the river
The Egyptian calendar followed the Nile in three seasons: Akhet (the flood), Peret (growth), and Shemu (harvest). By March the floodwaters are long gone, the fields are green, and the harvest is near.
𓇼 Balance as a principle
Ma'at, the principle of truth, order, and balance, was believed to hold the universe together, and it was the standard that kings and ordinary people alike were expected to uphold. Day and night in balance is a fitting image of it, which is why we built this journey around the equinox.
Led by Heritage and Scholarship
This journey is approached with cultural integrity, historical grounding, and respect for the living land. It brings together three things rarely found in one experience:
𓋹 Lived belonging
Founded and led by Awakening Ra, an Egyptian-American path devoted to the living heritage of Kemet. For us, Egypt isn't a destination, but home.
𓌀 Scholarship
Led by Egyptologist Ali Habib, who reads the hieroglyphs on the walls in front of you, bringing real depth to every site
𓊽 Intimate, local access
A small, intimate group with private entry inside a top site, and the chance to connect with indigenous energy practitioners along the way.
This Journey Is for You If
𓅊 You love ancient history and want to understand Egypt through real scholarship, not a script
𓅊 You feel drawn to Egypt's spiritual traditions and want to experience them with respect and context
𓅊 You want to see Egypt with hosts who know it as home
𓅊 You value a small, intimate group and room to take it all in at your own pace
𓅊 You're curious and open to whatever the land has to teach you, whether or not you consider yourself spiritual
Whether you come for the history, the heritage, or the spirit of the place, you are welcome here.

Your Team
Awakening Ra
Awakening Ra was founded on a lifelong relationship with Kemet — not a discovery, but a return. Having travelled between Egypt and the U.S. for a lifetime, the founder lives the work of translating between cultures: carrying what is meaningful here into a world that often only sees Egypt through borrowed or invented lenses. Awakening Ra exists to share the ancient knowledge and living heritage of Kemet with anyone who seeks to understand it and connect it to their own path. This journey is the heart of that work — an invitation to experience Kemet through eyes that have never left it.
Ali Habib – Egyptologist, Kemetic Spiritual Guide
Ali Habib is a renowned Egyptologist and spiritual teacher dedicated to reviving the sacred wisdom of ancient Kemet. With deep expertise in translating hieroglyphic texts related to healing, astronomy, and sacred geometry, he bridges scholarly knowledge with living spiritual practice. As the founder of Sema-Tawy, an online center for Kemetic studies, Ali guides seekers in reconnecting with the divine sciences of the Nile Valley. He will be leading our sacred tours through Egypt, offering profound insight into the temples, symbols, and rituals of the ancients.
