disclaimer: How to burn resin and wood incense: Resin and wood incense is best burned on top of a hot charcoal disk for optimum scent and smoke. Finding the right set up for your needs can sometimes take some time to perfect. You need to start with the following items: - self lighting charcoal tablets - heat resistant charcoal burner or shallow dish - metal tongs - lighter (preferably butane with a more powerful flame) - a bit of sand, stones, shell or ash to be placed under the coal Prepare your burner by placing a bit of sand, pebbles, ash or a shell at the bottom being sure that this heat resistant surface area is wider then the charcoal is created. Using the tongs to hold one charcoal disk, light the coal with the lighter to evenly heat all sides of the coal. Alternatively, coal can be lit on a gas stove by leaving it to heat in the flames for a few minutes. Blowing on the coal can help expedite the heating process too. Once mostly red and hot, place the coal on top of the prepared heat resistant surface. Next place a small piece of your resin or wood in the center of the coal. Your incense should start to immediately smoke. A small amount of incense (1/2 tsp) should be enough to start. As the charcoal starts to burn out the incense you can also add more if you wish. We recommend a holder with a cone base or handle so that you can carefully carry the burning incense around your space for smudging and purification. Enjoy the delightful smoke blessings!
